Midsummer’s Nightmare
It's already almost July, crazy. Vegas was pretty fun and I got to see Penn & Teller who I've never heard of until watching them at the Rio. Amazing show I must say. Lakers won the NBA Championship, good times. The nightmare though is that my car is back in the shop and will put me back a whopping $4,000 this time around. Torque converter is the issue mostly and that means pulling out the transmission etc...the other problem was with my ABS computer module. I just hope I can go a while now without having any car issues. PLEASE!
menage a vegas
Well next weekend i'm going back to Vegas again....BOOYAH! I'm pumped and pscyhed to be going again. Maybe I can win back some (or all) of the cash I lost during Christmas. Other than that, not much has been going on with ya boi. Work is actually getting somewhat better and I'm getting much more responsibility and work. I suspect I'll be at this job for a long time I mean why leave a place that has a gym where I can play twice a week (one on Friday's at lunch) and where I work from home twice a week? Yeah, exactly.
sa da tay!
it's been a minute but i'm still kickin. i've been doing a little bit of this and a little bit of that. the last couple weeks have been geared towards the ncaa tourny and my tar heels of nc whoopin up on everyone. they got mich state tomorrow night and it'll be a tough matchup but i think they can do it. the job is going good...i'm finally getting some more work and its varied so it's all gravy. other than that, im just watching my tv, playing basketball, watching my atl hawx be inconsistent and livin life. so yeah, thats all for now.
It’s Been A Long Time
It has been a long minute since I've posted, and a lot has surely happened since then. So here's what I've been up to...
For Christmas, my family and I went to Las Vegas for a week. I saw the Criss Angel show, a motown show, the blue man group, and a helicopter tour. Also did a bunch of gambling and lost some mad $$$, oh well. Also while we were out there, we drove to LA on Xmas day to watch the Lakers beat down the Celtics. So that was pretty fun. As a side note, the LA highways are terrible. Vegas is a pretty cool place as that was my 2nd time being there in 3 months but I probably need a rest now because i've lost too much money there. I think if I had unlimited amounts of cash I'd be like Charles Barkley. Gambling is really addictive.
January was pretty uneventful until I found out some peeps were going on a ski trip to Breckinridge, CO so I decided to join them because I always wanted to go skiing and that was my chance. I had a blast and stayed warm with my multiple layers of long johns, performance suit, hoodies, and ski jacket. I thought I may go up there and re-injure myself but I came out okay. I started out with a ski class to learn the ropes, the next day I had so many crashes I almost got too frustrated but I ended out on a bang doing some of the harder slopes (blues), and hope to ski again soon. Though the next time it'll probably be in North Carolina or somewhere on the east coast.
I have been trying to exercise/workout and play a lot more basketball so I can get in shape. I've played basketball 5 times in the past week and am feeling the pain. I've been watching so much basketball lately that it makes me really want to play. My goal is to be able to dunk 1 handed this year jumping off of one leg which I really haven't been able to do solidly my whole life. I had always been the two feet jump and dunker.
Well that was a mouthful, but I think that's about it for now.
Back in December
What is up people? I'm back after Thanksgiving break and i'm doing alright. I've been getting a little bored lately so I've started doing my research into school related activities. 1) Take the GRE and get my recommendations to start my Master's degree 2) Start a Game Dev degree at a small college near me(that is really cheap). Choice 1 is smart no matter what, choice 2 is a little more on the for fun side. Also, I may be able to meet some people with whom I can really group with and make something GREAT. So we'll see how that goes.
I'm going to the SEC Championship game on Saturday, Alabama vs Florida, should be a great game( i hope). GO TIDE!
Lakers are 14-1, Hawks 10-6, Nice.
I've beaten DBZ Burst Limit and Fable 2 since the last time I posted. DBZ is a solid game, and Fable 2 was wonderfully fun. I'm currently playing Saints Row 2 and this game is a blast. It's what GTA should be in my opinion, no more of the realism crap, give me some arcady mindless fun.
I'm going to Las Vegas for a week(over Christmas, 19-26th) and the fam is going to the Lakers/Celtics game in LA while we are down there so that should be pretty sweet. I guess that's it for now.
Gone ’til November
It's been a minute since I've been up on this, but I am back. October was a good month. My birthday was on the 25th and went out to see this Michael Jackson tribute band called "Who's Bad?" which was really good. For halloween, I went as the white newscaster from Chappelle Show.
A couple weeks ago I went to Helen, GA for a weekend with a great friend of mine (kelly). Helen is this german-like town in northern Georgia and they celebrate Oktoberfest up there so thats why we went. We went horseback riding(which I'd never done), into a corn maze, gold/gem panning, and a couple other things. Good times.
At work, we started a work from home program which allows me to work from home 2 days a week(mine are wednesday and friday) except when I have a meeting or other tasks that have to be done in the office. So far its been pretty cool, it just makes me not want to find a new job anytime soon, so i'll probably be there for awhile.
Alabama is #1 in the BCS. Awesome. Tyler Hansbrough is out indefinitely, meh, but it'll help the good freshman recruits get some playing time so we'll see.
As far as programming, I've been dabbling here and there and just re-configured my server so I can get back to learning some stuff.
that's it for now i guess...later.
What Happens In Vegas, Sucks!
Naw i'm kidding, I had a blast in las vegas last weekend. I learned how to play craps and man that game is addictive. The good thing is I left Vegas with an extra $300 but I had lost $1000 shortly before I left so I was "actually" up 1300 for a couple hours....oh well. I started out with blackjack and let it ride(form of poker/hold 'em-ish) and was going back and forth. Most of my money won and lost came from craps.
I went to Vegas with a friend and some of his friends who live in Denver. The main purpose of Vegas was going to this pre-season hockey game known as Frozen Fury between the Avalanche and the LA Kings. I think there were like 7 seperate fights in that game and like 4 goals in regulation and it went into a shootout which the avalanche won which is cool. I was an avalanche fan way back in the day (i lived in Colorado for 2 years in the mid 90s). Though i'm definitely not a big hockey fan, I can enjoy it.
Other than that, it was a strictly casino and gambling affair. We went up and down the strip a little bit though. Also went to this joint called In N' Out burger which was good. I did some gambling at Planet Hollywood, MGM Grand(where we stayed), Bill's, Tropicana, and New York New York. I'll go back to vegas again so I can do a little more sight seeing and maybe go see the grand canyon, ride the sand dunes, etc...but for now it was a good weekend getaway.
Back from Aruba, On To Vegas
Wow! I was in Aruba for about 3 days the weekend before last and it was a real good time! It was a solo getaway which a lot of people wouldn't do but i was like meh. Well I went, the first night i took up the local sites shopping, ate out in this joint called Iguana Joe's which was alright. For dinner and the night out, I went to a bar/restaurant called Senor Frog's and that was a lot of fun.
On the Saturday, I went to the beach early in the morning, then around noon i wanted to do a tour but they were all booked up. All of the points of interest are out in the boonies and accessible by this long dirt trail on the northern coast of the island. So I rented a jeep wrangler and went about my way for about 6 hours or so. Got trapped in some beach and a local Aruban and some family from Europe helped me get the jeep so that was interesting. And from there I just went to the next couple spots and then took a wrong turn and ended up in San Nicolaas which is an old refinery town with a bunch of bars and what not. I hung out there for awhile and ran into some weird guy named gilbert and gave me a mini tour of the area and intro'd me to some peeps in this pool hall/bar. I eventually went home and called it a night as I was exhausted.
Sunday morning, another beach trip, and shopped until I had to leave for my flight. Overall, good solo trip! And this weekend i'll be in Vegas with a group of peeps, so should be cool!
Oranjestad, What?
This week I was kinda bleh for some reason soooo I talked to my buddy who works at Delta and he hooked me with a discount flight to Aruba! So I'll be in Aruba for just this weekend(I know its not a lot of time, but whatever). I hear its supposed to be pretty nice, and that it has a lot of repeat vacationers so i'm going to see how i fare out there on my own. I really wish I could swim better so I could try some of the snorkeling but I dont have enough confidence in my swimming so i'll probably avoid it. Heading out tomorrow!
Back to the Gym
Well its labor day and I woke up early because thats what I do. I don't have to work today so all should be good, though I joined LA Fitness a week ago and I'll probably go by the gym to workout a bit. I had my official rehab physical therapy through June, then worked out lightly the end of june and a little in july, and then took almost 2 months off from working out! I mostly did it because my knee was hurting a little bit on some of the workouts but now I'm back in the gym. I even played basketball a couple times last week(half court, of course). So I think I am well on my way to recovering, which is great for me.
In addition to the knee related workouts, I'm hoping to also increase strength in every area possible, and get my endurance back up to speed because I was seriously gasping for air during those games of 21 last week. Not Cool. Anyway, thats about it for now...think im going to cook some breakfast.
